The 7th Annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival

Honorary chair: Ming Wang, MD, PhD, president, Tennessee Chinese Chamber of Commerce ( www.tccc.us )

This annual Festival combines the fun of dragon boat racing on the Cumberland River with the beauty and tradition of Nashville's diverse culture. This Festival connects thousands of Middle Tennesseans, teaching them about our water resource, helping them gain a greater appreciation for the recreational value of the Cumberland River, and encourages them to take an active role in their own health and fitness. In addition, the event highlights Chinese culture in Nashville with cultural performances and information about the local Chinese community.

Proceeds benefit Cumberland Compact, a 501c(3) non-profit that focuses on cleaning up of Cumberland River

8am: remarks by Mayor Karl Dean, and Dr. Ming Wang

11am: Chinese cultural show (dance show by Chinese Cultural Club, and Chinese violin er-hu performance by Dr. Ming Wang)

11:30am: Dragon Boat Festival race!

Proceeds from the event help fund the work of the Cumberland River Compact and its new River Center. Opportunities are still available for sponsors, participants and volunteers. Sponsorship of the Festival clearly links corporation to an appreciation of healthy lifestyles, cultural diversity and environmental stewardship.
